Another “get to know me” thing.

Inspired by this entry.

Three Names You Go By:
1. Lisa (My actual first name)
2. Lis (A nickname started by Laura many years ago)
3. Lid (A name that sprung from the previous nickname by a simple accident on messenger by a certain friend)

Three Screen Names You Have Had:
1. Lisa_Rochelle/Lisa_1213 (My oldest screen names ever)
2. Lis311/Lis0311 (My new screen names)
3. Little-Lisa (My new website screen name)

Three Things You Like About Yourself:
1. My capability for music (“talent” if you will)
2. My drive for achieving greatness (some call it “perfectionism”)
3. My ability to kick everyone’s asses at Dr. Mario

Three Things You Don’t Like About Yourself:
1. My vulnerability when I’m lonely
2. My tendancy to become way too concerned about grades
3. My tendancy to keep in what I’m really feeling

Three Parts Of Your Heritage:
1. Spanish/Mexican
2. American
3. Taco Bell (Yum.)

Three Things That Scare You:
1. The possibility that I might crash and total my car again
2. The possibility that I might ruin someone’s life
3. The movie “The Ring”

Three Of Your Everyday Essentials:
1. My cell phone/camera phone
2. My laptop/internet
3. My car (Oh, wherefore art thou?)

Three Things You’re Wearing Right Now:
1. Shirt
2. Jeans
3. Sweatshirt

Three Of Your Favorite Bands:
1. 311
2. The Beatles
3. Thrice

Three Of Your Favorite Songs At Present:
1. Silverchair - Tuna In The Brine
2. Thrice - Cold Cash and Colder Hearts
3. Death Cab For Cutie - Debate Exposes Doubt

Three New Things You Want To Do In The Next 12 Months:
1. Learn the Violin
2. Meet the members of Thrice (I was sooooo close that last time!)
3. Visit with old friends I haven’t seen in years (Tosh, Taylor, Prissy, and Vicky, off the top of my head) and meet Thomas.

Three Things You Want In A Relationship:
1. Honesty/Fidelity
2. Attention/Compassion
3. Small Heart-shaped silver earrings :-P

Two Truths And A Lie: Guess which is the lie
1. I was in cheerleading (severely twisted my ankle and bruised my arm from being tossed improperly), dance team (won several national awards with my team), tennis (played when I was a kid so joined the team and had to quit shortly thereafter due to other organizations), track and field (joined kinda as a dare but stayed on the team until a knee injury prevented me from continuing), marching band (where I played pit percussion and marching percussion and served as the tap-off snare drum and served as section leader for two years), symphonic winds (where I started on flute and moved to keyboards as sort of a trial run, which ended up changing my life completely), yearbook (where I managed to get elective credit for doing minimal work), national honor society (where I missed almost all the meetings and fulfilled all my community service hours of four years during the week prior to the deadline), and spanish national honor society (achieving all A+’s in my spanish classes, earning my red cords for graduation, and never learning the language at all) over the span of middle and high school.
2. I had my first kiss backstage in the school cafeteria my freshman year with a boy I really really liked but didn’t like me back.
3. I celebrated my eighth birthday (party and all) in October instead of December because I was sick and tired of getting “birthday-slash-christmas gifts.” I wanted a gift for my birthday and then two weeks later I wanted a seperate gift for christmas. I was a kid; I was selfish.

Three Things You Just Can’t Do:
1. Quit being sarcastic
2. Watch inappropriate scenes in movies
3. Switch to Apple Hardware (sorry, Matt)

Three Of Your Favorite Hobbies:
1. Playing Piano/Bass Guitar/Drums/Guitar
2. Maintaining My Website
3. Bike riding/roller blading/skateboarding, when the weather is perfect (okay, I don’t know -how- to skateboard, but I really really want to learn *puppy face*)

Three Things You Want To Do Really Badly Right Now:
1. Eat something good
2. Go to sleep for a long time
3. Quit doing this quiz

Three Careers You’re Considering:
1. Pharmacist/Forensic Scientist
2. Musician/Music Teacher
3. Mother

Three Places You Want To Go On Vacation:
1. Australia
2. Germany
3. Japan

Three Kids’ Names You Like:
1. James/Leah
2. Nathan/Hope
3. Gabriel/Charity

Three Things You Want To Do Before You Die:
1. Have a surprise party thrown for me by someone I wouldn’t have expected
2. Write and produce a CD with a group of friends who are musicians and have similar musical interests as mine
3. Tell everyone who has touched my life just how much they mean to me.

CTS

[End notes: I don’t remember what CTS stood for. I managed to re-read this five years after writing it and it still made me laugh. I didn’t do most of the things I wanted to do 12 months from writing this. All three of the “two truths and a lie” are true.]

"Order is synonymous with simple."

“Order is synonymous with simple.”

- The Virtuous Marriage: Order — Simple Marriage

Today Is National PC Cleanup Day, So Let's Tidy Up Your System - Maintenance - Lifehacker

Today Is National PC Cleanup Day, So Let's Tidy Up Your System - Maintenance - Lifehacker

Today Is National PC Cleanup Day, So Let's Tidy Up Your System - Maintenance - Lifehacker

Today Is National PC Cleanup Day, So Let's Tidy Up Your System - Maintenance - Lifehacker

"A young girl was helping her mother bag groceries when we heard the tell-tale “splat” of..."

“A young girl was helping her mother bag groceries when we heard the tell-tale “splat” of the eggs hitting the floor.
The green floor might be a bit much for me, but the blue wall with the white wood cut-out clouds is just adorable (even if they’re lined up unnaturally in a grid).

Only my front L&R speakers work. I know why, but I don’t have the resources to fix it.

The projection area is larger than my screen area, even completely zoomed out. The only possible solution I see is removing our large mirror from above the fireplace each time we use the projector.

My TV tuner card needs to connect thru a PCI-e slot in my motherboard, but all of them are full. And even if I had a spare, it was built to run on Vista and I back-tracked this computer to XP.. and finding an XP driver is harder than you’d think.

There are cables. Everywhere. I was going to attempt cleaning up the cable mess but I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore. There are even two cables running a two-foot section between the fireplace and the rug, which proves to be a hazard. However, these cables lead to the rear L&R speakers which aren’t even connected, so I am tempted to just remove them completely.

I am forced (for some reason) to run the Xbox360 out with RCA component instead of the better-quality RGB component since.. well, I found a converter but now I need three male-to-male adapters. The quality is quite bad using RCA. I’m wondering if doing it this other way would even create better picture quality. Think, think, think..

Did I mention there’s cables everywhere?

The projector is lower to the ground due to ceiling (and ceiling fan shadow) restraints, and that means if anyone stands up or walks casually in the room, their shadow will disrupt the stream. That also means that if you look at the wall from a certain angle, you can fry your eyes. Perfect.

My “component switcher” is not working correctly, and even if it was, I wouldn’t be able to hook up everything to it apparently.

This would be so much easier if we had a standard digital TV, standard digital cable box, standard digital receiver, and standard speakers running speaker wire.. instead of the projector, regular coax, a “component switcher,” and 5.1 speakers running 1/4” cables all around. Oh, and if we were still in the process of building our house and RAN ALL THE CABLES WITHIN THE WALLS. [/ideal world] [/whining]

Okay, enough of that. Back to work…

Genius.

Reminds me of the “car brakes go out, go to neutral” article I read in the past.
I think we’re way past due on removing Kay’s paper page books after she has made it abundantly clear that she’s not responsible enough to handle them without ripping pages out. (!!!!!)

Highlighting only her cardboard books like this sounds like the way to go.

No Vlog Today..

I decided against vlogging today because I can barely get myself to speak words, much less do it in front of a camera.

To begin, my sleeping schedule has been heavily reliant on Kayleigh’s schedule. She has been going to bed later and later — it has been getting so ridiculous that we didn’t get to bed until after 3am the last two nights in a row. What used to be 10am starting our day is now 12pm and 1pm starting our day. This is not what I intended us to turn into.

I have prevented her from naps, tried to keep her energized throughout the day.. but so far nothing is working. I am frazzled enough from the moving and having to make do with life that doesn’t stop whilst sealing my entire life into cardboard boxes. This just makes things so much harder.

Aside from starting my day off incredibly late, I was completely immersed with the tragic events that took place on post this afternoon. It consumed my entire day, watching live newscasts online and keeping up with the breaking news.. to the point that I didn’t even realize I should probably get my day started until it was already 5pm. I missed my opportunity to go to the post office and I totally failed at getting my yoga done (I prefer to work out before my sis and bro-in-law get home from work).

Disappointed in myself already, I decided to get whatever packing done that I could. I completed another third of the kitchen (carefully wrapping fragile items is the most time consuming) as well as about a fourth of my wardrobe. I don’t even know.. I have nine packing days left and I’m not sure if I feel ready.

At this point, my next goal is to try to get to bed before 3am. I want to reclaim my mornings.. and I’m afraid it might take something drastic.
